Beekeeping is one of the oldest agricultural practices, but it still faces modern challenges—one of the biggest being finding the queen bee among thousands of workers. For beekeepers, this process is crucial but often slow, frustrating, and inefficient. That’s where Trut AI comes in.
Trut AI is an AI-powered mobile application that instantly detects the queen bee in real-time using a smartphone camera. The app is built on a custom neural network, trained on thousands of hive images, allowing beekeepers to locate the queen within seconds—saving time, improving efficiency, and ensuring better hive management.
This project was made possible with the support of Smart Start Serbia, a program initiated by the Innovation Fund of Serbia to help startups bring innovative ideas to life. Thanks to this support, we not only developed the Trut AI mobile app but also launched a fully integrated platform that connects beekeepers and businesses through ESG-driven sustainability initiatives.
How Trut AI Works
- AI-Powered Queen Bee Detection: Using a smartphone camera, Trut AI scans hive frames in real-time and instantly detects the queen bee with an 85% accuracy rate. This eliminates the need for time-consuming manual inspections.
- User-Friendly Mobile App: The interface is designed to be intuitive and accessible, allowing beekeepers to quickly scan their hive and receive results without technical expertise.
- Hive Health Monitoring: The app provides real-time data analytics, helping beekeepers track their hives’ overall condition and take preventive measures to avoid colony loss.
- AI Learning & Continuous Improvement: As more users scan their hives, the AI model continuously improves, making the detection more precise over time.
Beyond Beekeeping – ESG Sustainability for Businesses
Trut AI is more than just an AI tool for beekeepers—it’s also a sustainability platform that helps companies invest in environmental responsibility.

Our Experience with Smart Start Serbia
The Smart Start program is designed to support early-stage startups and small businesses in developing innovative products. Through this initiative, we received:
- Financial support of up to 6 million dinars, which allowed us to develop our Minimum Viable Product (MVP).
- Mentorship from industry experts, guiding us through market research, business model development, and technology refinement.
This support was essential in helping us bring Trut AI from concept to reality and prepare for its next phase of growth.
